Vauxhall has changed a lot over the past five years, so persuading people who think they know about the brand to think again is key.

- How do you come up with new marketing ideas?

We close our eyes, hold our breath and spin around 20 times. This summer's VXR racing driver of the year competition - Vauxhall sponsored a season's racing in the Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup - is an example of where this approach takes us.

- Describe the marketing team in three words.

Fun, bold and passionate.

- What are the perks of the job?

As you would expect from a car manufacturer, we get up to two company cars. We also have our own proving ground with a two-mile high-speed bowl, which is great for testing the cars.

- What is Vauxhall like for career progression?

Within General Motors worldwide there are tremendous career opportunities and many senior executives and vice-presidents originate from the Vauxhall team. Career progression here is more a question of how far you want to take your career and how committed you are.

- What about the salary and benefits package?

We do it for love, of course, but the salary is competitive and you have access to all the branded leisurewear you could possibly need. …
