Exclusive: Most Popular Newspaper Sites for August

Article excerpt

Once again, The New York Times online tops all other newspaper Web sites measured by Nielsen//NetRatings in August with the most unique visitors.

The Times also tops the amount of time spent per person when looking at the top 30, on average almost 24 minutes. The Web site for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette clocks in at 22:22. Close behind is the Arizona Republic's AZCentral.com at 22 minutes and the Minneapolis Star Tribune at 22 minutes.

Four papers and their online properties made the list in August that were not in the top 30 in July: the Orlando Sentinel, the Sun-Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and The Oregonian. Below are the top 30 newspaper Web sites in August. Please note, this is a custom list provided by Nielsen (owned by our corporate parent), and numbers from other measurement firms differ.
