Corporate leaders switching to green suppliers

Some 42% of surveyed members of the New Zealand Business Council for Sustainable Development say they have "deselected" suppliers on their social, environmental and ethical behaviours:

Winning business with eco labels

Seventeen per cent of members report winning business because their products have an eco-label. This is expected to change as new Government sustainable procurement policy starts influencing $6 billion in spending by 34 departments.

The Business Council has run sustainable procurement workshops, assisted members to develop codes of practice for their suppliers and presented nationally and internationally at conferences and to the private and public sector about how to improve the sustainability of their supply chains.
