A MISSION-DRIVEN ASSOCIATION

The mission of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) is to advocate, promote, and strengthen service to young adults as part of the continuum of total library service, and to support those who provide service to this population.

TEEN TECH AND READ WEEKS

During March 2-8, 2008, YALSA will celebrate its second annual Teen Tech Week, "Tune In @ your library." Ideas for celebrating this event can be found at www.ala.org/teentechweek/.

The goal of the observance is to ensure that all teens are competent users of information technologies, especially those found in libraries.

Mark your calendars for October 12-18, 2008, for the 11th annual Teen Read Week, "Books With Bite @ your library." In 2007, a total of 4,680 librarians and educators nationwide participated and encouraged teens to read for the fun of it. More information can be found at www.ala.org/teenread/.

OTHER ACTIVITIES, PROGRAMS

In 2008, YALSA officially joins ALA's "@ your library" campaign. The focus of the division's efforts for the year will be training for library workers. During the ALA Midwinter Meeting in Philadelphia, YALSA will host the "Taking Teen Services to the Next Level" institute. …
