Hunting Airmotive is a prime example of how Zimbabwe's established businesses have never stopped learning new techniques and modernising their approach to give the country a leading edge in industrial development.

A sustained period of success has made Hunting Airmotive Zimbabwe a very proud company indeed. Formerly called Field Aircraft Services, it has been involved in Aircraft maintenance in Zimbabwe since 1960.

From humble beginnings the company has kept pace with the changes that have come to aviation. Starting as an overhaul facility for Pratt & Whitney R 180 piston engines (the power behind the well loved workhorse of the sky, the Douglas DC3, used by the national airline and other regional carriers at the time), the company has since involved itself in the overhaul of all Textron Lycoming and Teledyne Continental Piston engines as they have come on stream.

Indeed all engine related components and electrical equipment are overhauled and certified within the organisation itself. The Airframe division is able to provide complete servicing of general aviation aircraft up to 5700 kg. Cessna, Piper, Beechcraft, De Haviland and DC3 aircraft are all catered for to the highest standards.

During the late 1970s the company investigated the overhaul of light gas turbine engines in response to customer demand. An expansion plan was formulated and today the company has the capability to overhaul all Pratt & Whitney PT6-A engines up to and including 1050 SHP. …
