"I will respect the result of the vote, only the alternative which is presented does not have the support of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI)," declared MEP Miroslav Mikola ik (EPP-ED, Slovakia) on the eve of the vote of 25 April on his controversial report relating to advanced therapy medicinal products. The PES, the Liberals and the Unified European Left groups filed a package of compromise amendments, making it possible to circumvent the ethical issues. The stake is to reaffirm that the new regulation will keep intact national legislations on ethical issues.

"As rapporteur, I must have the result validated by the main committee. I am prepared to ask, after the vote, to send the report back to the committee for three weeks." If he obtains approval to do so, the procedure would need to recommence with a vote at the ENVI Committee and a new presentation of the report in the plenary session in first reading - in May, according to Mikola ik. …
