Article excerpt

Knight-Ridder Information, Inc. and Teltech Resource Network Corporation have announced an agreement for Knight-Ridder Information to make a minority investment in Teltech, a leading independent provider of technical research, analysis, and information-management services to industry.

As part of the agreement, Knight-Ridder Information president and CEO Patrick J. Tierney will be seated on the company's board of directors, giving Knight-Ridder Information a voice in guiding the direction of the company. The two organizations will continue working together to take advantage of potential synergies in product development, marketing, and distribution.

William J. Zierolf, CEO of Teltech, welcomes the partnership. "With its large client base and established worldwide distribution channels, Knight-ridder Infon-nation is a significant force in the information industry today," he said. "Their market position and strategic direction are synergistic with Teltech's growing development of proprietary content on technologies and our rapidly expanding information-management service capabilities. Their decision to invest in Teltech sets in motion a partnership that will notably advance the business interests of both companies and our respective value to the markets we serve."

Pat Tierney agreed, and said, "Knight-Ridder Information and Teltech have traditionally served different segments of the scientific/technical/engineering market. Scientists and researchers look to Teltech for the technical information and insight they need to make knowledgeable decisions, while information professionals rely on the information resources of DIALOG and DataStar to solve the complex research problems of their clients. We expect the relationship between Knight-Ridder Information and Teltech to strengthen both companies' ability to provide total information solutions to this growing market."

In another recent announcement, Teltech introduced a group of new products designed to support the efforts of corporate information centers in proactively managing the evolution of their service capabilities.

Included in Teltech's new information-management service package are:
