Two Companies to Offer Free Internet Access to SEC EDGAR Filings

In separate announcements, Disclosure Corporation of Bethesda, Maryland, a subsidiary of Waltham, Massachusetts-based Primark Corporation, and Global Securities Information, Inc. (GSI) of Washington, DC, both will offer access to Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) EDGAR filings on the Internet. EDGAR (Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval) is the paperless, electronic filing system now being phased in by the SEC and scheduled for full implementation by May 1996. Almost 6,500 public companies now file with the SEC via EDGAR.

Disclosure to Keep NYU EDGAR Service Free on the Internet

Disclosure has entered into a letter of intent with the New York University (NYU) Stem School of Business to continue providing access to EDGAR electronic SEC filings over the Internet.

The new service will include free access to EDGAR filings in the same format as now provided to users of the New York University Town Hall service on the Internet. This new arrangement will allow NYU to improve service and continue its Web site without interruption. It is expected that the letter of intent will be converted into a definitive contract within the next several weeks.

"Our agreement with NYU is an important extension of our commitment to the educational community which Disclosure has served for over 25 years," said Steven L. Schneider, president of Disclosure Incorporated. "The access to public company documents and databases that Disclosure offers on companies worldwide will be an invaluable resource for members of the public."

Professor Ajit Kambil of the NYU Stem School of Business said, "Our partnership with Disclosure is exciting because they are a company with extensive knowledge and experience with SEC filings. Their support will enable us to continue our public dissemination service, education, and research mission. We can also focus on providing better access tools to support research and to develop educational materials for students, teachers and the public about these important corporate filings. …
