Have you ever woken up one morning and thought that it would be the best day of your life? Have you ever realized how fortunate you are? If you look deeper into your life's story, you will see that you have had an outstanding life. We all have to be thankful for our lives and families.

I felt like a cloud was covering the earth. Like the earth was crumbling into ash. It was 1:00 in the afternoon, but it felt like midnight. I kept telling myself that it would be ok, but I knew that everything was going to change.

This little boy is very strong. He has been fighting this terrifying disease for nine months, but none of us stay strong forever. We all have to let sorrow into our hearts.

I have been lying in bed thinking about what I heard an hour ago. Tears are coming to my eyes, slowly but they're coming. "What if it's all a joke?" I yelled, but in my heart, I knew that it wasn't a joke at all. It was reality, devastating reality.

I see kids playing out on the street. I think, "How could they be playing when people are suffering?" I knew that they didn't know about him. I heard kids singing "Cinderella dressed in yellow went upstairs to kiss a fellow" to the jump rope. I wanted to go play with them, too, but my heart wouldn't let me. It's not fair how my friend Evan might die from a disease, and we're having the time of our lives here in paradise. While these thoughts were rushing through my head, my mom came into my room. …
