ScienceDirect: Research-Friendly Enhancements

Article excerpt

ScienceDirect just became more research-friendly. Elsevier announced that the online STM platform recently added new intuitive reference and navigational features to its offerings.

A number of researchers helped develop tools "to deliver clearer results with fewer clicks." As part of the overall product enhancements, Elsevier's 2collab, its free web-based collaborative platform, will also be integrated into ScienceDirect, providing a more seamless research experience with increased productivity.

The enhancements include the following:

Preview tabs--These tabs, available on the results page or the table of contents, offer researchers one-click access to evaluate the relevance of an article by using the abstract, figures/charts, and references to simplify the process without having to reload the page.

Article-related toolbox--This tool gathers article-related functionality (Cited By and Download PDF, E-mail article, and more) into one easy-to-use location.

Preview inline references--When the cursor moves over a reference marker in an article, researchers can view reference information including links for instant access to view or download the paper. …
