Article excerpt

BIOSIS, an abstracting and indexing service for the life sciences, has announced that its comprehensive serials file will be available mid-March in an easy-to-use CD-ROM edition. BIOSIS Serial Sources on CD provides complete serial and publisher information for 6,000 active titles, as well as for 11,000 archival titles, monitored by BIOSIS for the Biological Abstracts product family.

The new electronic edition uses Adobe Acrobat Reader software and contains a Portable Document File (PDF) that provides the following benefits:

* An indicator for the 1,800 serials indexed cover-to-cover in 1995

* Software for point-and-click access so users can search for any word, ISSN, publisher name, or address

* Time-saving lists for displaying new serial titles or changed/ceased titles

* Side-by-side windows so users can click on the publisher name and display a list of the journals published

* Quick bookmarking for rapid return to a specific entry

* Unlimited site license included in the subscription price

BIOSIS Serial Sources on CD supports users of BIOSIS Previews, Biological Abstracts in print and CD, Biological Abstracts/RRM (Reports, Reviews, Meetings) in print and CD, BIOSIS GenRef on CD, Foods Intelligence on CD, as well as other biomedical bibliographic databases.

Available in DOS, Windows, Macintosh, and UNIX versions, BIOSIS Serial Sources on CD will be updated annually.

BIOSIS has also announced that it has extended BIOSIS GenRef on CD, its database of genetics research, with the inclusion of research published from 1985-1989. …
