Auto-Graphic's Impact/ONLINE Enables State-Wide Health Information Resources Sharing

Auto-Graphics Inc., a Pomona, California-based supplier of information and database resource-sharing systems, has announced that the North Carolina Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Library and Information Services Network has adopted the latest in library automation technology by integrating Auto-Graphics' Impact/ONLINE data resource-sharing system. The network includes AHEC sites as well as hospital and university sites statewide. Named the "North Carolina AHEC Health Sciences Union Catalog," the network will utilize Auto-Graphics' product to offer users access to any information available from the hospital library group via the Internet.

The AHEC has installed Auto-Graphics' Impact/ONLINE, a multitype library union database, which includes more than 270,000 bibliographic holdings. These resources were originally contributed in 1994 for a CD-ROM version of Auto-Graphics' database sharing system from more than 113 health and life sciences libraries throughout the state of North Carolina The new online version contains additional resources from these libraries, including books, journals, periodicals, reports, audio cassettes, and videotapes.

The database is available through 12 AHEC online sites and is concurrently accessible via Impact CD-ROM at 165 other participating sites throughout North Carolina. This resource-sharing system builds upon a statewide electronic network established to promote timely and efficient resource sharing among the various health and life sciences libraries across the state. …
