SwetsWise: Introducing SwetsWise eSource Manager

At the ALA Midwinter Meeting last January, Swets introduced License Bank for SwetsWise Subscriptions, a time-saving product for librarians and info pros that manages and tracks licenses and subscription information. At SLA 2008 in Seattle in June, Swets rolled out another sweet service: the SwetsWise eSource Manager module that builds on License Bank's functionality.

"SwetsWise eSource Manager is an optional electronic resource module that supports license management, activation, and access that builds on the License Bank," says Peg Marshall, director of marketing and business development. "The product is a result of our due diligence with customers." Swets asked its License Bank customers what they wanted, and the customers answered. The SwetsWise product development crew went back to the drawing board and enhanced the product with an a la carte option for those who needed it the most to simplify the process and eliminate extra work.

The new module delivers a prepopulated database of standard publishing license conditions that can be searched, viewed, and customized for specific publisher license agreements. According to Sri Rajan, the electronic products manager for the North American region, the module is integrated with the SwetsWise Subscriptions Library edition to manage and track licenses as well as subscription information, e-resource access, and activation details. "This is all done from one interface," he says, "so using License Bank for maintaining licensing agreements and subscriptions is now even easier. …
