'Denver Post' and 'Pioneer Press' to Run 'Politico' Coverage

Politico is partnering with The Denver Post and the St. Paul Pioneer Press to cover the upcoming political conventions in their cities through an arrangement that puts the upstart political Web site on their front pages.

The two MediaNews Group dailies, whose cities will host the Democratic and Republican conventions, plan to publish at least several pages each day of Politico content in print during the convention weeks. Politico, meanwhile, will be able to sell ad space in the newspapers.

"They are deeply sourced in D.C.," said Editor Thom Fladung of the Pioneer Press, who said Politico will actually be part of the paper's Page One name flag during the Republican National Convention Sept. 1 to Sept. 5. "It will be a co-section with Pioneer Press material in it and Politico material in it."

Fladung said the Politico co-section will be the first section of the paper, with a second front page of non-convention news leading the second section.

"The partnership offers our readers a more complete package," Greg Moore, editor of the Post, said in a statement. "We will leverage our strength in covering Denver, its residents and the convention planningwith Politico's power on the national stage."

The Democratic National Convention is set for Aug. 25 to Aug. 28 in Denver.

"We have established partnerships with those papers that are more robust than anything I have ever known of," said Politico Editor-In-Chief John Harris. "Our work will be appearing in those papers during convention weeks and they will have access to everything Politico writes. …
