David O'Keefe's caricatures do more than simply capture the appearance of his subjects; they reveal the essence of the individual's personality with impressive skill and clever humor.

O'Keefe's early start, along with his dedication and perseverance to perfecting his craft, has contributed to his expertise in his chosen art genre. O'Keefe began drawing caricatures at a young age and was encouraged by his father to create various personalities.

"I would draw my father, and he would make a lot of faces for me," O'Keefe recalls. "He would tell me to draw Walter Cronkite on the evening news because it was an image that would be there for awhile."

As a child, O'Keefe's father took him to charity golf events where he drew caricatures of the participating celebrities, such as Pete Rose, and would have them autograph his images. By the time he was in high school, O'Keefe was very interested in becoming an artist and became fascinated with great Masters, such as Van Gogh.

O'Keefe worked for 27 years at the Tampa Tribune as an editorial cartoonist and also did promotional art. He has created images for Time Magazine, Sports Illustrated, MAD, The Village Voice and others. …
