3M and KNOGO to Provide Universal Asset Protection Services to Libraries

3M, a leader in library innovation and technology, and KNOGO North America Inc., a leading manufacturer of Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) systems, have announced that they are joining forces in an effort to provide universal asset protection to libraries across North America. This strategic relationship will strengthen service to library customers.

The agreement enables KNOGO to distribute all 3M library products, such as 3M Tattle-Tape security strips, 3M SelfCheck System hardware and software, and other 3M library materials flow management products and accessories to public, academic, special, and government libraries across North America. The relationship is the first of its kind in the library systems industry.

In addition, 3M will provide service and installation for all new and existing KNOGO library customers throughout the U.S. and Canada.

"The library industry is advancing in technology, and both 3M and KNOGO are committed to keeping pace with and leading these advancements," said Jon T. Hamann, director of 3M Library Systems. "With the development of the library materials flow management concept, 3M has proven that it can anticipate and meet the library industry's changing demands and needs. According to Thomas A. Nicolette, president and chief executive officer of KNOGO, the library industry has evolved from book security to the more pressing issues of staff productivity, staff safety, and improved patron service under increased budget pressures. …
