Kate Phillips of The Caucus reported today that in an interview with Marie Claire magazinedone last month but yet to hit the stands, Senator John McCain identifies with the character Kiefer Sutherland plays on "24." . In the interview McCain says that he has a lot in common with Jack Bauer who "escapes all the time." He says he does not believe in torture as Jack does on the series however.

McCain finds Borat, "very, very coarse," likes "The Office" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm," and defers to his wife on the domestic front. But like many men he makes his opinion felt in certain areas..."including the remote..." At the time of the interview he had not yet chosen Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate, but did acknowledge the importance of the women's vote in the upcoming election, "I hope this does not sound in any way inappropriate, they are the majority of the population, and many of them are still undecided. Perhaps it's no surprise that Sarah Palin action figures may show up on store shelves. Herobuilders.com has come out with three Sarah Palin action figure dolls to accompany their Obama and McCain figures, according to On Politics. One is of a plain Sarah, another a "school girl" Sarah Palin and still another is Sarah Palin as a "super hero," all sans rifle. Conspicuously absent is an action figure of Palin's vice presidential opponent, Democratic Senator Joe Biden. …
