Orlando Congress of Cities and Exposition to Wrap Up with Event at Universal Studios

Article excerpt

The closing event at the 2008 NLC Congress of Cities and Exposition offers conference attendees the chance to "be the star" of their own movie and television experience at the Universal Orlando Resort.

The City of Orlando and host city sponsor General Electric Water & Process Technologies will roll out the red carpet Saturday evening, November 15, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Universal Orlando Resort and give attendees the celebrity treatment, including a backstage pass to some of the world's most thrilling and innovative theme park attractions.

Attendees will combine learning with fun at the closing event as they learn how a mega-theme park can be an environmentally responsible member of the community.

Complimentary food and beverage stations will be stationed throughout the park for guests to enjoy as they get V.I.P access to four of the park's most popular attractions:

* Seek and destroy aliens, spin and careen through the streets of New York in the interactive ride based on the hit movie, Men In Black Alien Attack.

* Experience a big screen debut in Disaster and learn the secrets of disaster films, experience special effects demonstrations, then board a moving subway train to star in the explosive finale scene.

* Come face to face with three tons of Great White fury. Just when it seemed safe to go back into the water, the Jaws attraction forces riders to realize that they may need a bigger boat when suddenly a giant fin slices through the waves.

* Enjoy the brand-new The Simpsons Ride recently voted "Best New Theme Park Attraction" worldwide for 2008 by Theme Park Insider. …
