Blackwell's Launches Electronic Journal Access Project

Blackwell's has announced the launch of a development project, Electronic Journal Navigator, to provide access to electronic journals. Twelve North American libraries have agreed to serve as partners in the project, to assist in the design of the user interface, help resolve licensing issues with publishers, and to determine the best access options.

The 12 libraries participating in North America as development partners are Cleveland State University; Dartmouth College; Michigan State University; Ohio State University; San Diego State University; Simon Fraser University; the University of Chicago; the University of Minnesota at Duluth; the University of New Hampshire; the University of Texas, Health Science Center, San Antonio; the University of Utah; and the University of Western Ontario.

Two of these libraries, Cleveland State and Ohio State, are members of OhioLink, and will serve to address needs of consortia and similar organizations. A total of 40 libraries will be participating in the project including major academic and corporate libraries in the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, and continental Europe.

Publishers participating in the initial stages of the project include ASLIB, Blackwell Science, Blackwell Publishers, Chapman and Hall, the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, John Wiley & Sons, Kluwer, Oxford University, Rapid Science Publisher, and Taylor and Francis. …
