Triadigm Technology, a digital media information services company, has announced its FutureArts Multimedia applications. FutureArts software integrates database technology with digital media, including sound, film and video, animation, photos, and other images, resulting in a flexible, adaptable product in which the user can change the content as needed.

FutureArts offers a suite of digital media database management tools to provide access through a graphical user interface to special collections in all formats. The software tools provide the rapid flexibility to build prototypes, integrating software and hardware technologies.

The San Francisco Public Library multimedia project is the first completed library application of FutureArts technology, providing interactive access to numerous SFPL special collections. For example, patrons can browse through vintage sheet music from the Dorothy Starr Collection and enjoy color images of the cover artwork while listening to rendered versions of the scores. Users can take a narrated video tour down historic Market Street, circa 1905, stopping for further detail at any corner while moving along at their own pace. They can point and click on the archives from the Gay and Lesbian Collection, accessing pulp novels or the letters of Harvey Milk, viewing original footage form Peter Adair's Word Is Out, or perusing the original manuscripts of Randy Shilts. …
