Jane's Releases Three New Discs

Article excerpt

The Jane's family of CD-ROMs continues to grow. Here are three recent additions:

Transportation Information

The urban transportation systems of more than 400 cities around the globe are examined in detail and indexed in the latest edition of Jane's Urban Transport Systems, a tool for urban transportation planning or research as well as for identifying business development opportunities and studying alternative means of resolving urban transportation problems.

The just-published 1996-97 edition of the annual directory from Jane's Information Group delivers expert analysis of the transportation system in each city. Detailed profiles of each system, which allow for easy comparison, include descriptions of the regulatory framework, the city's public transport network, journeys and fare structures, routes operated, service frequency, and the type, age, and number of vehicles in use. Also included is a listing of transportation system and related equipment manufacturers/suppliers, arranged by product type. Consulting and contracting firms are also listed. Each company entry provides a description of the company and its products and complete contact details, including a listing of top executives.

For nearly every community or company profiled, a photo or map of the transportation system or product is provided. An alphabetical index provides easy location of the entries for all cities and companies included.

Jane's Urban Transport Systems 1996-97 is available in hardcover ($315), CD-ROM ($795), or as part of the Jane's Information Management System, a tailor-made electronic delivery system built by Jane's for individual customers.

Consequently, there are some 150 new entries in this edition of the directory. In all, over 2,000 weapons and accessories from more than 300 manufacturers in 69 countries are analyzed and described in the directory. Each entry offers detailed descriptions of weapons and accessories currently in service or under development and includes specifications, manufacturer information (including contact data), a "status" listing indicating whether the item is in production or development, and performance evaluations. …
