NlightN, a knowledge access service available on the World Wide Web, announces its new service, NlightN for Libraries. First introduced at the American Library Association conference in early July, this end-user reference service provides subscription-based pricing for the already established NlightN service. It also provides features that enable librarians to better utilize their current collection of resources. At the same time, because NlightN for Libraries points to the library's current database collection, information providers are assured of greater use of their databases.

NlightN provides a powerful finding tool that is designed to locate information stored in hundreds of public and private databases and reference resources worldwide. With NlightN, a patron can access, in a single search, over 400 databases, newswire services, an electronic bookstore, document delivery, and, simultaneously, the Web. One unique feature is the capability to highlight those databases in NlightN to which the library already subscribes, be it on CD, in print, or in another format.

"We feel the addition of the NlightN for Libraries service will provide an outstanding opportunity for librarians to maximize the use of their currently held reference databases, in whatever media, while increasing the awareness of auxiliary sources of information," said Bob Asleson, general manager of The Library Corporation's NlightN Division. …
