LEXIS-NEXIS has announced two new packages of its LEXIS-NEXIS Office for Windows software suite with major new functionality for attorneys--version 6.0 for Windows 3.X and version 7.0 for Windows 95 or Windows NT.

With availability in the fourth quarter, the software suites continue building on the success of the first LEXIS-NEXIS Office suite announced less than a year ago, according to the company. A legal research tool incorporating the LEXIS-NEXIS suite of services through a customizable Windows-based toolbar, LEXIS-NEXIS Office works with pointand-click simplicity to allow legal professionals to integrate LEXIS-NEXIS online sessions, Folio Infobase Technology, CD-ROM, word processing software, and COUNSEL CONNECT sessions into their work product. LEXIS-NEXIS Office .also contains the LEXIS-NEXIS Legal Toolbox, a suite of citation recognition and document comparison products, including CompareRite, FullAuthority, and CiteRite II.

The latest versions contain LEXIS-NEXIS Internet Companion, a button on the LEXIS-NEXIS Office toolbar for quick and reliable Internet access using Netscape Navigator Internet client software from Netscape Communications.

Other major improvements include:

* Source selection from either a full topical hierarchy or from an alpha list of all the sources on the LEXIS-NEXIS online service, with full source names rather than abbreviations

* Easy-to-use search forms to guide search formulation

* The ability to save both favorite searches and favorite sources

* The ability to tag documents while viewing them for later downloading or printing

This version features LEXIS-NEXIS Research Manager 6.0 for Windows, the first product developed on a new state-of-the-art computing infrastructure at LEXIS-NEXIS. For the first time, according to the company, the legal professional can work in multiple windows, launching two or more LEXiS-NEXIS searches and opening and browsing two or more answer sets. …
