EXCLUSIVE: Top 30 Most Popular News Outlets on the Web for September

The Huffington Post continues to pull off big increases in unique users. Visitors to the site soared 457% to 7.4 million in September from August, according to Nielsen Online's top 30 current event and global news destinations list. In August, uniques at Huff Post had grows 291% to 5.1 million.

The New York Times, Tribune and Gannett continued to lead among newspaper sites.

September uniques at Boston.com and Fox TV stations increased 122% and 109%, respectively.

The New York Post experienced a 98% rise in monthly uniques in September compared to the same month a year ago. Uniques at A.H. Belo advanced 86% to 5.5 million.

Three sites in the top 30 reported decreases -- two of them related to newspapers. Monthly uniques at Topix declined 6% to 6.4 million and at the AP, down 6% to 4.8 million.
