Article excerpt

Information Access Company (IAC) has announced Release 1.4 of IAC InSite, its suite of five popular business research products available on the World Wide Web. The IAC InSite suite Release 1.4 (Business InSite, Computer InSite, Consumer InSite, Market InSite, and Newsletter InSite), made its official debut at the Online World Conference in Washington, DC, on October 28.

This release features the addition of more than 30,000 international company directory records to Business Insite. The new records are derived from the Major Companies directory series published by Graham & Whiteside (G&W) Ltd. of the U.K. Also new in this release is the addition of a special image indicator to Business InSite, Consumer InSite, and Computer InSite. The indicator lets users easily retrieve photos and other images that accompany the full text, giving them access to the entire article as it was originally printed.

To remain competitive, companies need timely, accurate, and comprehensive intelligence on the global marketplace," said Paul O'Brien, general manager of IAC's corporate division. "And Business InSite is a great solution to identify sales prospects, trading partners, and joint venture opportunities. For nearly 20 years, G&W has served the European business community with detailed information about new and emerging companies across Europe, the Pacific Rim, and the Middle East. Release 1.4 of IAC InSite brings this invaluable resource to the World Wide Web, giving users direct access to a powerful research tool."

Business InSite now includes the following print directory volumes: Major Companies in Europe, Major Companies of Central and Eastern Europe & The Commonwealth of Independent States, Major Companies of the Far East & Australasia, and Major Companies of the Arab World. The 30,000 G&W companies supplement more than 170,000 U.S. directory records already available in Business InSite.

Like the U.S. directory records in Business InSite, the G&W data offers strong coverage of information relating to a company's business description, number of employees, key officers, and subsidiaries. Unique to G&W, however, is in-depth reporting in several key areas. For example, investors can find the names of a company's principal bankers and shareholders, product managers and analysts can easily locate company trade names and brand names, and marketers can obtain G&W's listings of a company's board members and branch offices. …
