Estranged Husband Charged in Murder of Twin Cities Suburban Reporter

Authorities Friday charged the estranged husband of Ruth Anne Maddox in the murder of the Shakopee Valley (Minn.) News reporter.

According to charges filed in Scott County (Minn.) District Court, Charles Anthony Maddox Jr. strangled Ruth Anne Maddox, and hid her body in the garage of their condominium, where it was discovered a day later by police. The charges were reported on the Minneapolis Star Tribune Web site by Abby Simons.

Police began investigating Tuesday when co-workers at the Shakopee Valley News received a text message saying the reporter would be late to work because of a doctor's appointment. The Star Tribune reported the newspaper employees alerted police because texting was "very unusual" way for Maddox to contact them, and that calls to her cell phone went directly into voice mail.
