Kim Anderson doesn't have just one role at Blackwell; he has two.

Anderson joined Blackwell in 1990. During his tenure at the publishing company, Anderson held positions as regional sales manager, district manager, and vice president of customer experience. Now, he is taking on dual roles as chief bibliographer and vice president of marketing.

One of Anderson's primary duties as chief bibliographer involves overseeing Blackwell's flagship service, the Approval Program. "When an academic library adopts our Approval Program, Blackwell, in collaboration with the library's collection development librarians, develops a profile that reflects the library's book purchasing patterns," says Anderson. Blackwell then sends the library weekly shipments of newly published books that match that profile from more than 2,500 publishers. "This service drives increased efficiency into the library's collection development and acquisition workflows," he says.

He is responsible for "ensuring that the profiling methodology and publisher coverage keep pace with technological change in publishing and libraries" and that Blackwell's Approval Program meets the needs of librarians and libraries. …
