CAS Adds Worldwide Petroleum and Agriculture Files to STN

CAS has announced the addition of worldwide petroleum literature and global information related to basic agriculture to STN International, its network of scientific and technical databases.

The TULSA file, named for the University of Tulsa, producer of the file's print counterpart, Petroleum Abstracts, includes worldwide literature related to petroleum exploration, geology, drilling methods, and production. Related information on transportation, environmental, health, and safety topics is also available.

The AGRICOLA (AGRICulture OnLine Access) file is an online database corresponding to the Bibliography of Agriculture produced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Library (NAL). It consists of worldwide literature related to basic agriculture including agricultural chemistry, agricultural economics, conservation, and more.

"STN International is the world's largest network dedicated to technical and scientific information," said Suzan Brown, CAS director of marketing. "CAS is constantly striving to improve the offering of technical and industry files on STN. The addition of these files helps us offer improved coverage of worldwide petroleum and agriculture literature to our customers."

The TULSA file contains information from 1965 to the present and has more than 565,000 records, covering journal articles, symposia, patents, books, dissertations, conference proceedings, and meeting pre-prints. CAS Registry Numbers are included in TULSA on STN. The file also offers a superior thesaurus implementation including full hierarchy, scope notes, and a permuted index, which helps facilitate comprehensive searches. …
