OPPORTUNITIES IN TOUGH TIMES

The Association for Library Collections and Technical Services offers many opportunities to participate without having to attend ALA's Midwinter Meetings or Annual Conferences. Offering service from committee member to webinar presenter, there are many avenues ALCTS strives to provide to stay involved in the Association.

In the past several years, the division has opened up many more virtual member positions on committees at all levels of the association. Fill out the ALCTS volunteer form and check the button for virtual member.

ALCTS has outstanding and inexpensive web courses in our Fundamentals series available throughout the spring and summer covering acquisitions, electronic resources, and collection development. Forthcoming courses include cataloging and preservation. In high demand, these courses sell out quickly.

One of the new initiatives for this year is development and presentation of webinars. Webinars give us the chance to provide low-cost CE and provide opportunities for presenters and moderators. …
