Excalibur Technologies Corp., a provider of knowledge retrieval solutions, has announced an agreement with Electronic Online Systems (EOS) International in which Excalibur will provide the search and retrieval technology for EOS International's new Q Series library information management product.

The Q Series will use Excalibur RetrievalWare, Excalibur's flagship knowledge retrieval software, to sort through hundreds of thousands of book and journal entries held in a library's automated "card catalog."

Excalibur RetrievalWare then will use its full semantic network and adaptive pattern recognition processing (APRP), which matches the binary code of each search term, to retrieve the most accurate and relevant answers to user queries.

According to the company, Excalibur RetrievalWare is the first product in the industry to combine linguistics technology with neural (learning) technology to deliver a highly accurate solution to retrieve knowledge.

For example, the company says a researcher using the Q Series, could do a natural language search such as "show me everything on significant events in the American Revolution" and the Q Series, using Excalibur RetrievalWare's capability, would identify every relevant record in the library's catalog. …
