The Learning Company, Inc. has launched BodyWorks 6.0 CD-ROM software under the Medical Library brand. Designed for adults and children ages 10 and up, BodyWorks 6.0 is a complete home reference and educational tool about human anatomy.

According to the company, BodyWorks 6.0 teaches the user about human anatomy with vibrant multimedia and an extensive textual database. BodyWorks explores in detail the functioning of the entire human body, from major organs and systems down to a single cell. For example, the program explains how blood circulates through the body, what happens when a heart beats, and how an individual blood cell transports oxygen.

Version 6.0 of BodyWorks is a major upgrade to the 5.0 version, incorporating many new and significantly upgraded features:

* Extensive search capabilities that let the user search by keyword, phrase, or phonetics

* An intuitive interface that allows the user to search the program by body system, 3-D models, educational tools, or specific topics

* 1,500 topics with an additional 100,000 words added to the database for a total of more than 400,000 words 160 high-resolution images, more than 80 of which are rotating 3-D models with zoom capability

* Access to a directory of related Web sites and updated medical articles on the BodyWorks Web site

* A video classroom with a personal instructor and 15 different anatomy presentations

* A glossary of anatomic terms and a guide to medical terminology

* The ability to censor anatomically correct models of the human body
