Many companies, like CompuServe and Microsoft, are rushing to offer package solutions for small publishing, intranet site-building. Netscape Communications Corporation and Concentric Network Corporation, a leading provider of tailored IP-based networking services, have recently announced a strategic business agreement to offer customers hosted private intranet services that can be accessed from anywhere on the Internet. These services give any individual or small business with an Internet connection the ability to quickly, easily, and cost-effectively establish a "virtual office" that is accessible through Netscape's Internet site. The agreement establishes a new section of the Netscape Internet site, which features the new Web-based service called Netscape Virtual Office by Concentric. With this service, users will be able to better communicate, collaborate, and store information online, accessing their "Virtual Office" from anywhere on the Internet. The service launched early last month.

Netscape Virtual Office by Concentric gives individual professionals, small businesses, and project groups a private online presence that can be shared with co-workers or other specified users. This online intranet center can serve as a user's entry point to a wide variety of online information management services, such as HTML e-mail accounts, internal and external Web sites, private discussion forums, and project collaboration, without the cost of extensive hardware, software, and technical personnel, according to the companies. …
