Montclair State University Professors Win Fulbright Awards
Two professors from New Jersey's Montclair State University are hard at work overseas after receiving Fulbright Awards.
Robert W.Taylor, a professor of urban and environmental studies in the department of earth and environmental studies at Montclair, was awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to work at De La Salle University in Manila, Philippines. He is teaching an applied-research course for graduate students at the university and conducting research regarding sustainability initiatives the city can undertake in the future.
"We're producing projects that will have community benefit that will meet environmental sustainability standards criteria, but also are feasible, meaning that funding may be available or that they can pay for themselves over time," Taylor says. "We're not just exploring theoretical ideas. We're actually suggesting sustainable projects that can actually be implemented."
Phillip G. LeBel, a professor of economics in the department of economics and finance at Montclair, is working at Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia after receiving a Fulbright Teaching and Research Fellowship. He is teaching several classes, including an economic-analysis course for MBA students, and researching ways to expand the use of information technology in developing countries. …
