Vidler Handed Top Role at EMI Music

Andria Vidler, chief marketing officer at Bauer Media, is moving to EMI Music as president for the UK and Ireland.

Vidler will report directly to David Kassler, EMI Music's European president. Her remit will include the development of audience relationships and an assessment of how consumers listen to and buy music.

'I expect digital development will play a significant part in my role, but the live experience is also very important,' she said. 'I'm looking forward to listening to what the industry has to say and thinking about the world of music in a new way.'

Vidler's appointment comes in the wake of last month's departure of EMI's president of digital, Douglas Merrill, after just a year. His exit followed the decision by Guy Hands, chief executive of venture capitalist Terra Firma, which owns EMI, to stand down from the day-to-day leadership of the group. Terra Firma recently wrote off pounds 1.2bn of investment in EMI.

Before joining Bauer Media in 2005, Vidler was the managing director of Capital Radio, where she oversaw the merger of eight local stations into a single branded network. …
