I was on our church vestry when we received an update from our diocesan representative about the amount we had donated to The Primate's World Relief and Development Fund. It was zero. I thought that there was something very wrong with that, so I took on the role of parish representative.

I did this for a number of years, then about five or six years ago the bishop asked me to be diocesan coordinator. As the diocesan coordinator I'm a member of the mission committee, which highlights the work of global outreach in our diocese.

I think it's one of those jobs that ends up fitting the person. First, I need to be informed about what's happening with PWRDF, so I check the website daily to see what needs to be highlighted in my own parish or congregation and what I need to send out to the clergy in the diocese.

This week I've been in touch with two different parishes, the first to arrange to speak at their Sunday worship and the other to spend the day focusing on the work of PWRDF. …
