Bryan Clark is a 25-year-old USC music school and Berklee grad with an '80s jazz-funk sensibility akin to Hollywood studio cats like Ritenour, Carlton and Lukather. He studied jazz guitar with Joe Diorio, Steve Masakowski and Larry Koonse, as well as composition with Vince Mendoza and Robert X. Rodriguez. An understated composer with echoes of vintage Metheny, Clark exploits space and timbre in his long, modally tinged, melodic passages, but he might profit from a less inhibited approach to improvisation and a tougher rhythmic stance. He performs around Dallas and is working on a feature film score. He's reachable in care of Rainfeather Music, 5739 Buffiridge, Dallas, TX 74252.

From his backwards/forwards montages to his triplet licks, "Reverend" Dave Antonio favors guitar of the early-'70s mind-melt variety, with a clear debt to Jimmy Page's blues-rock phrasing. He totes a Sebring archtop and a Fender Strat and cites the usual blues influences -- muddy, Buddy, Robert Johnson and the three Kings -- as well as George Van Eps, Bill Leavitt and "the late, great Mel Bay. …
