Sainsbury's is to roll out a home shopping service by next spring, after cutting its links with home delivery company Flanagans.

Details of the Sainsbury's service are still being finalised, bet the retailer is understood to have acquired a fleet of delivery vans and has begun recruiting drivers.

Sainsbury's is also planning to launch an Internet ordering service in the spring.

Its trial home shopping scheme, Order & Collect, offers only home ordering, with customers still having tn visit the store to pick up their shopping. Under the new scheme, customers could also be given the choice of having their groceries delivered for a fee.

The supermarket chain has confirmed it has cut its links with Flanagans after two years. Sainsbury's had supplied Flanagans with branded products, which were delivered in the London area.

Sainsbury's is under pressure to develop home shopping, after Tesco announced an extension of its home delivery service, Tesco Direct, last month. …
