Article excerpt

According to separate announcements, CCH, Inc., a producer of print and electronic information products, and Context Limited, an electronic publisher of legal, official, and European information, have released new CD-ROM products for legal professionals.

CCH Franchise Law Library

For attorneys specializing in the field of franchise and distribution law, CCH has released the CCH Franchise Law Library on CD-ROM. This new product brings together the authoritative sources on compliance, planning, and litigation, along with the latest developments in this area of law.

The CCH Franchise Law Library unites three resources for the franchise law professional: the CCH Business Franchise Guide, a source for explanations and the full text of federal and state statutes, regulations, rulings, and court decisions; Franchising Law: Practice and Forms, by Fern, Asbill, Costello, and Scott (published in print by Specialty Technical Publishers), a transaction-oriented treatment of the field with extensive practice aids; and the 1997 ABA Forum on Franchising Program Materials, providing analyses of the latest franchise law issues from more than 70 top practitioners in the field.

Since 1980, CCH Business Franchise Guide has been a source of federal and state franchise distribution laws, regulations, and full-text case reporting. Explanations of all aspects of franchising are backed up by full-text reporting of the franchise and distributorship laws, regulations, and uniform disclosure formats of every state and the federal government. Over 3,500 court and administrative decisions are included on the disc.

In addition to U.S. law, the CCH Business Franchise Guide compiles and explains the laws and regulations of 10 foreign jurisdictions, including Canada, Mexico, the Russian Federation, and the European Union.

The CCH Business Franchise Guide CD is updated monthly, and each updated disc contains the full text of the Business Franchise Guide newsletter, highlighting important developments in the field.

Available on the CD-ROM Library is the full text of Franchising Law: Practice and Forms, a practice-oriented treatise on the legal and business aspects of franchising that is updated quarterly by authors Fern, Asbill, Costello, and Scott. This work features clause-by-clause analysis of agreements, citations to precedential cases, and advice on how to minimize potentially devastating disputes, liabilities, and costs. …
