Our diocesan and parish representatives, who work as ambassadors for The Primate's World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF) on a volunteer basis, form a vital lifeline within the Anglican constituency in Canada. They tell us that sometimes, our name can be a stumbling block. They tell us that the conversation about PWRDF can get bogged down right at the beginning, when PWRDF is introduced.

"I didn't know the Anglican Church worked with animals!" one parishioner exclaimed during an appeal for victims of the tsunami.

Is our name getting in the way of telling people about the work we do?

We are asking questions like this because we need to find our most compelling voice. Our name is a critical part of this because it's our calling card. But we also know that this is a much broader opportunity: to improve how we connect.

To get the answers, we're talking to people inside the church, including bishops, priests, diocesan and parish reps, youth, PWRDF staff, board members and other Church House folks, even the primate. …
