Imark's NET-MAX Plus SilverPlatter's Search-by-Search Continue to Draw Publishers

Article excerpt

Imark Technologies, Inc. and Silver-Platter Information, Inc. have announced that Elsevier Science, a unit of multi-billion-dollar publishing giant Reed Elsevier, will offer a collection of databases through SilverPlatter's Web-based Search by Search information service. Search by Search employs Imark Technologies' NET-MAX information commerce system to enable automatic user registration, content access authorization, usage metering, and payment processing via the Internet. Elsevier Science, one of the largest publishers of scientific journals, joins the list of more than 30 publishers offering more than 100 data-bases to libraries on a pay-per-use basis.

"Imark's NET-MAX service provides unique capabilities, including pay-down accounts and usage metering, that digital content providers like SilverPlatter need to ensure payment for content use," said Robert Wiedemer, president and chief executive officer of Imark Technologies. "Given the importance of Elsevier's science databases, we expect their addition to Search by Search to increase revenues significantly. Using Imark's service gives information companies like SilverPlatter the opportunity to concentrate on their core competencies: content aggregation, powerful search-and-retrieval software, and distribution."

Publishers currently offering content on Search by Search include Thomson Financial Publishing, American Association of Law Librarians, Medical Data Exchange, Cambridge Scientific Abstracts, IFI/ Plenum, H.W. Wilson, National Library of Medicine, Willow Tree, Pierian Press, Public Affairs Information Service, Sociological Abstracts, CAB International, American Economic Association, National Technical Information Service, International Food Information Service Publishing, U.S. Government Printing Office, and FOI Services, Inc. …
