Rowe Parts Ways with Tesco Personal Finance

Paulette Rowe has left her position as commercial and marketing director at Tesco Personal Finance (TPF) by mutual consent with her employer. It is not known whether she has another job to go to.

Rowe was poached at the end of last year from Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), where she was chief executive of its European Consumer Finance division, to join Tesco's then-fledgling financial-services operation.

Her departure has stunned insiders because she was brought in by TPF's chief executive, Benny Higgins, under whom she worked when he was chief executive of RBS' Retail Banking arm.

Rowe spent seven years at RBS Group, including a stint as managing director of NatWest Retail Banking, with responsibility for its branch network and its Premium and Business Banking brands.

Prior to joining RBS in 2001, Rowe held marketing and product-development roles at financial-services business GE Capital.

Rowe, who joined Tesco following its pounds 950m acquisition of RBS' 50% stake in TPF, subsequently oversaw the launch of the supermarket's first in-store Banking & Insurance branches. …
