Len Muscarella, Who Ran EPpy Awards, Dies at 57

Len Muscarella, 57, founder of Interactive Media Associates (IMA) in Parsippany, N.J., and a former reporter for the Middletown Times Herald Record and The Record of Hackensack, died June 4 from complications following a heart attack.

A Newburgh, N.Y., native, Muscarella studied English at Boston College and earned master's degrees at Syracuse and Rutgers universities. He worked as a reporter for the Middletown Times Herald Record and The Record of Hackensack before entering the new-media world in the 1980s. His many contributions to that field included a role in the creation of the Prodigy network, and he co-edited the e-commerce book "Net Success." Most recently, Muscarella managed The EPpy Awards, Editor & Publisher's annual awards for excellence in online content. He was on hand for

this year's ceremony during the Interactive Media Conference and Trade Show in New Orleans, where he served as emcee.
