It is with great sadness that NACM Southeast announced the passing of D. Gerald "Jerry" Smith on May 27, 2009. Jerry joined the association staff as manager of the Commercial Claims Division in August 1969. Prior to that time he was with the San Francisco Association for five years.

Jerry was later elected secretary and executive vice president before ultimately being named president. He was a member of the American Society of Association Executives, Commercial Law League of America and the Atlanta Credit Club and served on various national and regional NACM committees. His contributions to the Association prior to his retirement in 1991 were innumerable. He will be missed.

With deep regret and heartache, SACM announced the loss of its beloved leader and chief of 11 years, lames (Tony) Hardister. Tony lost his two-year battle with cancer on July 24, 2009 at his home in Orlando. He leaves behind a very large and extended family since he considered his "work family" likewise as important to his own large, immediate family.

Tony was a pioneer in the credit field and was gifted with a tremendous passion and vision for the direction of the association. Even though he knew he was losing his battle, he still conducted SACM business only a week before he died and his last sentiment was to continue his dream and keep the association strong. …
