APHA Meeting Expo Booths Take Home Prizes: disAbility, Statistics, Podiatric Health Sections Earn Top Honors

A DIVERSITY of public health exhibitors were recognized for their creative, educational and innovative booths during the Public Health Expo at the 137th APHA Annual Meeting in Philadelphia.

The expo, held over four days of the November meeting, featured more than 650 booths and offered attendees a wealth of public health-related information, new technology and services. Among the many participants at the Public Health Expo were state and local health departments, schools of public health and APHA's Sections and Special Primary Interest Groups, as well as federal agencies such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

As in previous years, a 14-member Exhibitor Advisory Council chose the winners of the annual Best Booth Contest.

In the APHA Sections category, the prizes were awarded to:

* the DisAbility Section, first place;

* Statistics Section, second place; and

* Podiatric Health Section, third place. In the nonprofit, one- to two-booth category, the winners were:

* Population Services International and Take Off Pounds Sensibly Club Inc., which tied for first place;

* Global Health Fellows Program, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water, and IntraHealth, which tied for second place; and

* International Relief and Development, Johns Hopkins University

Bloomberg School of Public Health, Emory University Rollins School of Public Health, Navy and Marine Corps Public Health Center, and the U.S. Bureau of Statistics, which all tied for third place.

In the nonprofit, island booth category, the winners were:

* the APHA Get Ready campaign and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, which tied for first place; and

* the National Cancer Institute, which took second place. …
