Azunia Tequila

There's a time-honored theory that the crappier the label, the tastier the tequila. On the scale of crappy labels, Azunia is really only about a seven compared to some of the sketchy jars presumably bottled around the time Zapata first met Magon (google it). Even though it's not marked with a foreboding skull and crossbones, I am extremely down. It's made from blue agave farmed in Jalisco, one state over from Guanajuato, where my abuela drank tequila during the revolution (okay, she was too young then but I imagine her as a real swashbuckling nineyear- old). It yields a velvety, peanut undertone and goes down smooth enough that if you gave me three shots, I'd start a Mexican Revolution in my living room. WITH THE CATS! JES

Wily Jack Wine

Whenever I come back from the UK, I import as much British culinary innuendo into the office as humanly possible. Example: "Fancy a HobNob?" Or, "Can I tempt anyone with a little spotted dick?" Of course I bring the edible props along, so it really is a hoot--call it post-vacay morale-boosting. After a while, I usually run out of supplies and/or the joke gets old, which bums me out. Enter Wily Jack, my new US drinking buddy. It comes in three flavors (sexy Zinfandel, saucy Chardonnay and sensual Sauvignon) and, best of all, Wily's a cheap date. Bringing all three versions of him along to the party will cost you less than a lap dance at Sue's Rendezvous! Cor Blimey! CN
