Windy Santa Cruz, a senior chemistry major, ranked as one of Valparaiso University's top middle-distance runners throughout the 2009 outdoor track season. Cruz has received the Lumina Award that the VU College of Arts and Sciences presents to juniors whose accumulated GPA for the five preceding semesters is 3.60 or above. She has participated in Chemistry in the Schools, an out-reach program that puts club members in fifth-grade classrooms for hourlong chemistry demonstrations. She has a 3.92 cumulative GPA.

Katrina Gaudier, a senior English major, pitched the 15th no-hitter in Drexel University (Pa.) softball history against St. Francis University on March 15, 2009. Gaudier has remained a fixture on Drexel's College of Arts and Sciences dean's list since 2006. The Irvine, Calif., native has volunteered for Inspire a Child to Dream Day, an event in which children age 9-16 tour the campus and attend programs organized by various university departments. She holds a 3.77 cumulative GPA.

Aundeah Kearney, a senior English major, recorded the eighth-best long jump in Princeton University history at the 2008 Larry Ellis Invitational. Kearney has published an article in the Mellon Minority Undergraduate Fellowship Journal. For three consecutive summers, the Paterson, N.J., native has participated in the Princeton Internships in Civic Service program. She has a 3.2 cumulative GPA.

Kirin Khan, a senior political, legal and economic analysis major, is a starboard-side sweep rower in the varsity four and eight for Mills College (Calif.) women's crew. Khan, an Academic Honors student, has encouraged academic excellence as a peer tutor and a teaching assistant at Mills since 2008. The Albuquerque, N.M., native volunteers as an ambassador for the Mills admissions office, meeting with prospective students and speaking on panels about her experience as a student-athlete. She has a 3.85 cumulative GPA.
