Readers Give Feedback on FM'S Online Issue

Article excerpt

Financial Management is the institute's flagship monthly magazine for members and students around the world. For the past few years the institute has measured their awareness of, and satisfaction with, FM by conducting member and student surveys, writes Simon Dawes, market research manager at CIMA. Responses to surveys in 2008 and 2009 showed that both of these are high--eight out of ten respondents rated the magazine as important to them, for example.

At the institute we are continuing to investigate the ways in which people use FM. We know that members are more likely to read it than students (who may read other CIMA study-related publications). But 82 per cent of members and 91 per cent of students say that they are satisfied with the magazine's tone, presentation, quality of writing, design, informative articles, length and usability.

In December 2009 CIMA piloted an online version of the magazine and invited feedback. Although the design and types of articles it featured were similar to those of a printed edition, the digital format allowed readers to download the pages to their own computers and to click on links to relevant features and websites. The institute is evaluating the responses and considering how this kind of format could best be used in future.
