- How does the team come up with fresh marketing ideas?

We use reader groups, reader research and reader feedback. There are still a lot of territories for us to expand into, so we rely on the creativity of our people to generate innovative ideas.

- What is the main marketing challenge you face?

Our two magazines, ShortList and Stylist, have achieved rapid penetration among young, upmarket, urban adults. Our challenge is to promote the brands within and beyond this core target market.

- Is there a dress code?

None that seems to have any rhyme or reason. Commercial teams are casual in the office, but wear suits and heels for business meetings.

- Describe the marketing team in three words.

Diverse, enthusiastic, busy.

- What are the hours like?

Working at a launch-oriented company means long hours are required at certain times.

We work hard when we need to and allow flexibility when breathing space appears.

- Does the team socialise outside work?

Yes - although the rapid expansion of the team from five to 56 over a two-year period has led to a lot more debate about where we drink. Our glamorous Stylist ladies aren't sold on the local old man's pub that served us so well in our early days. …
