Mimic Books are online resources of digital children's books which are ready to read digitally on Interactive Whiteboards. The concept

has been developed by a teacher for teachers to use in story time, shared reading, guided reading and school assemblies. It allows big books to be shared with a large audience.

There are over 40 books which can be accessed, covering ten genres including poetry, traditional tales and reference books. All the books originate from a small number of highly respected publishers and mirror the hard-copy version of each text. Many of the books are award winners such as Little Red Riding Hood by Josephine Evetts-Secker. The children in my class, and I, particularly loved reading The Tear Thief by Carol Ann Duffy.

Mimic books is an apt name for a company whose digital books mimic the real thing and replicate the experience of reading a real book. The company believes that all books are interactive through the reading experience therefore the electronic book offers no 'interactive' features. …
