Vauxhall: Hi, this is Vauxhall. How can I help you?

Mktg: I'm looking to buy a car and your 'lifetime' warranty seems a bit self-contradictory.

Kia offers a 100,000-mile, seven-year warranty that seems to be essentially the same thing. Are there any advantages to your warranty over Kia's?

Vauxhall: I don't really know what Kia do I'm afraid. I can only really tell you what Vauxhall would do. The warranty is administered by Vauxhall and it's supposed to be one of the most comprehensive ones. If you're enquiring about what the warranty is, there is information on the Vauxhall website.

Mktg: Do you offer an extended warranty after you exceed 100,000 miles?

Vauxhall: Not Vauxhall, no.

If you wanted to extend it after that, then it would be through a third party. There is no option to extend it through Vauxhall, as the manufacturer.

Mktg: After the three-year manufacturing warranty expires, then your warranty goes straight through Vauxhall rather than a third party? …
